Dear parents,

We will also identify characteristics of specific Profiles of Gifted, including creative, successful, underground, at risk, multi-exceptional and autonomous. Behaviors, needs, perceptions and tips for identification will be presented and parents will leave with strategies to support success both at home and at school.

Profiles of the Gifted Sometimes, parenting a gifted child can be... no pleasure cruise. But the better we understand them, the better equipped we are to provide them with the home and school supports they need for optimal social and emotional wellness as well as reaching their full potential. Noted expert on giftedness, George Betts, has developed profile types of the gifted which identifies their behaviors, feelings, attitudes and perceptions. The Autonomous Learner, The Creative, The Successful, and The Underground are among the profiles that will be discussed.
As parents and educators, we are familiar with the strengths gifted children possess - - as well as the possible problems that can accompany these traits. Some children are highly driven, worry warts or drama queens. Identifying these characteristics and learning how best to respond as well as what NOT to say will be addressed by the presenters, Tracey Anderson, Becky Beal and Amy Miller, USD 260 Gifted Facilitators.
